Parga port
Τhe most picturesque, beautiful and famous port of Ipiros. It’s colourful buildings and unique morphology will impress you at first sight. Do not miss the Castle of Parga, a Venetian castle on top of a cliff. It’s breathtaking view of the port will certainly reward you. Also, Nisaki tis Panagias (Virgin’s Mary island) a verdant small island opposite Parga’s port with the small beautiful white church and a small castle built by French colonists. It will amaze you by it’s unique beauty and view of Parga. You can reach the island by sea bike from Kryoneri beach or by swimming. In addition, do not miss a dinner or drink in one of the numerous restaurants and bars along the port. Finally, Parga port is offering numerous boat day trips to Paxoi and Antipaxoi islands and nearby beaches.
Castle of Ali Pasa
An imposing fortress situated on top of the mountain on your way from Parga to Sarakiniko, close to the village of Anthoussa. During the occupation of Greece by the the Turks, the castle was built by Ali Pasa in order to observe the rebellious Parga. The castle overlooks the gulf of Parga at the Ionian Sea, giving you the sense of that era.
Aphrodite’s Cave
Aphrodite’s Cave near Lychnos beach only 4 kilometres away from Parga. You can either reach it by car or by boat from Parga’s port. It’s combination of trees, white sand and rocks shaping small caves will definitely impress you. According to Greek Mythology, Aphrodite used to bathe in this cave.
Monastery of Panagia Vlaherna
The monastery of Panagia Vlaherna is a Byzantine monastery that was built before the 12th century, one of the most beautiful locations in Parga. The monastery of Vlacherna is located in the Valtos Beach area of Parga, on a hill. The bell tower of the 18th century, which has a height of 15 meters, dominates in monastery and is the only one that survives.The icon of Panagia Vlacherna, allegedly came from Cappadocia(on the picture shown in the year 986) and stored today in the church museum of Parga.
